How to get help

If you need help from our foodbank there are a few simple steps to follow.

Dundee & Angus Foodbank operates a telephone referral system – 01382 698020

In order to provide the most appropriate help for the circumstances of your situation we work with local agencies, such as Citizens Advice, housing support officers, children’s centres, health visitors, social work, welfare rights and some local charities (this is not an exhaustive list). If you feel that you are in need of support from Dundee & Angus Foodbank these are the steps that you should follow.

1. Arrange a visit to a referral agency

They will undertake a quick assessment of your situation and seek to support you in any way they can. They will then then phone through a referral to us here at Dundee & Angus Foodbank. Once the referral has been processed, you will be informed where and when you can collect it from by the referral agency.

The local agency can also provide long term support if needed to help address some of the issues behind the reasons for your crisis.

2. Visit your local Foodbank

You can find a list of our local centres and opening times here.

You will be warmly welcomed at the Foodbank in a non-judgemental environment and offered a cup a tea or coffee and a chat. We will offer a compassionate ear and, where possible, signpost you to other agencies that can help you in providing more long-term support to your situation.

Once you arrive please make one of the volunteers aware should you have any specific dietary requirements (e.g. vegetarian, gluten-free, halal, etc). Furthermore, if you do not have full cooking facilities, please make us aware and we will ensure the parcel is adapted. Furthermore, we sometimes have supplies of pet food, toiletries, nappies and female hygiene products. If you are in need of any of these, again please make one of the volunteers aware.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
